Angelo Accardi

Surreal Visions: The Universe of Angelo Accardi

Angelo Accardi, born in 1964 in Sapri, in the province of Salerno, is an Italian artist renowned for his ability to blend surreal elements with contemporary urban settings, creating works that explore the human condition through a unique visual language. After a brief experience at the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples, he opened his personal studio in the 1990s, dedicating himself to an artistic exploration centered on the human figure and abstraction.

His most famous series, Misplaced, introduces the ostrich as a symbol of disorientation and alienation in modern society, placing it in urban and domestic contexts to create a surreal contrast that invites reflection.

Accardi has exhibited his works in numerous solo and group exhibitions both in Italy and abroad. Among his most recent exhibitions is Icarus' Dream, held from September 4 to November 24, 2024, at the 17th-century Palazzo Donà dalle Rose in Venice. This exhibition offered a journey into the imagination of the 1980s, intertwining dreams and reality in a visual epic of colors, cultures, and trends.

Accardi's participation in the 60th Venice Biennale further solidified his position in the contemporary art scene, allowing him to present his works to an international audience and contribute to the dialogue on modern art.

Through his art, Angelo Accardi continues to explore the tensions between reality and imagination, offering a critical and innovative perspective on contemporary society.
