In Night Watch, Marco Grasso focuses his investigation on a silent and vigilant presence, constructing an image in which the gaze becomes the absolute fulcrum of the composition. The owl, depicted frontally, emerges from a dark and rarefied background that amplifies its intensity, asserting itself as a liminal figure suspended between the visible and the invisible. The structure of the work is governed by a perceptual tension: the eyes, ignited with incandescent tones, establish a direct engagement with the viewer, transforming vision into experience. Around this magnetic centre, the painting unfolds with remarkable precision, rendering the complexity of the plumage through a rich and vibrant materiality, shaped by subtle and controlled modulations of light. Light, once again, does not merely describe but constructs form, carving out volumes and revealing the depth of the gaze.
