A SIX HANDS CONTEMPORARY PROJECT
The artists featured in the evening joined forces, combining traditional and alternative materials and playing with shiny surfaces, transparencies, and reflections to amplify the message. Angelo Accardi's white lacquered resin, which gives the sculpture a marble-like appearance, is complemented by Luca Bellandi's painting on Plexiglas, reflected by a mirror, in an optical illusion of transformation created by the superimposition of the painting on the sculpture's drape. Daniele Fortuna works with wood, which, with its layered shapes and vibrant colors, adds further three-dimensionality to the scene. The work is called “Venus” and rests on a scenographic carpet created by the Saints Studio brand, a fashion house close to the world of art: a 10-meter-long silk patchwork that recalls the link between art, fabric, and history. It is on display in the Romanelli Room of the Royal Palace of Caserta, a world-famous UNESCO jewel, as part of a concession of space for a fee. A crossroads of contemporary art and social commitment where Venus is a symbol of emancipation and gender equality. Standing 4 meters tall, it is a tribute to the “black Venuses” and a universal manifesto. The Afro hairstyle celebrates the women who have marked the history of the struggle for gender equality. The mouth, on the other hand, wrapped in a white veil that ends on a symbolic apple, echoes original sin and the stigma imposed on women throughout history.
