ANGELO ACCARDI - BLEND 2025

In Blend (2025), Angelo Accardi sets his research in an interior space that takes the form of a veritable theater of contemporary imagination. The work represents a domestic environment constructed through a deliberately unstable perspective, where historical elements, pop symbols, and surreal presences coexist without hierarchical order.
The room is inhabited by a series of red-bodied ostriches, emblematic figures of the artist's poetics, which move through the space like silent, foreign bodies. Their presence alters the function of the environment, transforming the living room into a mental space, suspended between reality and fiction. The ostriches become a metaphor for disorientation, for fleeing identity, but also for a condition of passive observation of the world.
Heterogeneous images coexist on the walls: a classical Venetian view, a work with a contemporary and geometric language, small decorative objects. Added to these is the figure of the Pink Panther, an icon of global pop culture, which introduces an ironic and detached dimension. The dialogue between these elements does not seek a harmonious synthesis, but highlights the visual and cultural stratification that characterizes the present.
The mixed technique, enriched by drips, splashes, and gestural interventions, breaks the linearity of the space and accentuates its narrative tension. Each element seems to belong to a different time and language, contributing to a dense, dynamic, and deliberately dissonant composition.
Blend thus takes the form of a reflection on the forced coexistence of images, styles, and meanings, transforming the domestic interior into a metaphor for the contemporary mind: a saturated space, traversed by memories, icons, and contradictions. A work of strong visual and conceptual impact, emblematic of Accardi's most recent research.
