In Rising Flame, Marco Grasso explores fire as a primordial force and symbol of transformation, making visible what normally escapes the gaze: the energy that precedes form, the spark that generates presence.
The work depicts an animal figure enveloped in an ascending flame, suspended in a solemn and silent architectural space. Fire is not destruction, but manifestation: a column of light and incandescent particles rising from the body, like a soul taking shape through heat. The sparks become minimal visual units, traces of a continuous movement between the material and the immaterial.
The composition is built on a strong vertical axis, which guides the gaze upwards, suggesting a process of elevation, passage, revelation. The contrast between the darkness of the environment and the luminous intensity of the fire accentuates the emotional tension of the image, transforming the scene into a perceptual threshold: a moment in which the invisible becomes temporarily visible.
