DANIELE ACCOSSATO - CRIPTOAMORE 2025

In Criptoamore, Daniele Accossato, an artist from Turin known for his sculptural research, translates his three-dimensional imagery into an image of strong symbolic and material density. The work stems from the same tension that runs through his sculptures: the constant dialogue between fragility and resistance, between protection and injury, between what is hidden and what inevitably emerges.
At the center of the composition is a figure curled up on itself, almost contracted, covered with a mantle of feathers that act as armor and at the same time as a sign of vulnerability. The feathers are not ornamentation, but living matter, charged with ambiguous meanings: lightness and falling, defense and abandonment. Around the figure, the architectural space is silent, rarefied, like a ritual chamber in which the gesture of love is transformed into a secret, guarded act.
The reference to lime refers directly to Accossato's sculptural practice: a primary material, linked to construction and burial, permanence and erasure. In Criptoamore, lime becomes a metaphor for a feeling that layers itself, protects itself, encrypts itself in order to survive. Love is not declared, but hidden, sedimented beneath the surface, like an emotional relic.
The light illuminates the scene with almost sculptural precision, shaping volumes and shadows as if the image were a contemporary bas-relief. Even when transposed onto plate, the work retains a strong plastic quality, consistent with the three-dimensional origin of the artist's language.
